Steven Bailey is one of the most interesting men in the cigar business today. Like many other manufacturers, he has a long history in the tobacco industry, yet not exactly what many might think. Steven is part of a long legacy of American tobacco growers with a rich history that stretches back over 150 years. When he decided to create his own cigar brand, he brought not only his tobacco knowledge, but his family's dedication to quality and innovation. Let's take a look at a true Southern gentleman.
The name of the company is derived from Cornelius Bailey, the first member of the family to begin to cultivate tobacco. He started the operation in the 1860s in the town of Keysville, Virginia, where the legacy continues today. Steven Anthony Bailey, the man we know and love, took steps to take the company into the 21st century. He added vape, cigarillos and a premium cigar division to his already massive company.
Their first released, aptly named the Cornelius, was hand rolled at the legendary El Titan de Bronze factory, and was an instant success, garnering several 90+ ratings. It is around this time that Steve met another interesting and unique personality ¦ Espinosa. Since then, Erik's La Zona factory in Nicaragua has been working tirelessly with Steve to create new and creative blends. Following the Cornelius, the company released the Vengaza, Meridian, and the fan favorite Daddy Mac, all with unique wrapper binder and filler combinations and Steve's rustic, heritage-based art work.
This year saw the release of two more cigars including the Senor Esugars, a rich dark smoke with a touching story behind it (it is named after Steve's dog). With over a century and a half of experience and a love for all that is tobacco, Steven Bailey is the right man to help lead the cigar industry into the future.
